East Africa

My client is a private equity backed retail organisation that operates in East Africa. They are now currently embarking on a period of growth and store expansion due to venture capital funding. Their aim is to significantly expand the number of store outlets and to increase  turnover and market share through the store improvement and replication.

In order to  succeed they now need to hire a retail/supermarket expert who has European experience who can bring their store management and strategy experience to the table. The fundamental skills and experience that I’m looking for is the science of store optimisation and how some stores are more effective than others. I therefore need someone who understands how to create a consistent approach to each store; optimising the store with the right products etc. You will also be fully involved with the roll out of new stores and the whole expansion into East Africa.

In summary I’m looking for someone who has the experience of working for a large European store where you have helped to shape the growth and success through intelligent planning and optimisation.  Moreover, you’re still ambitious and would relish the opportunity of taking a small retail company forward to the next level. It’s also based in one of Africa’s most thriving and developed countries where there is a huge middle-class population with a desire for products and services equal to anywhere in Europe. Tourism is also vast with safaris and wildlife open to visitors to explore.
